Communication Officers drawn from 9 partner Councils of the SEEPD program of the CBC Health Services, have undergone a one day capacity building on inclusive communication, capturing and reporting of Community Based Inclusive Development CBID stories as well as the ability to upload, edit and update their various council's websites.
While opening the workshop, Mr. Tamon James, Representating the Director of CBC Health Board, challenged the Communication Officers, to mainstream inclusion in their various writeups in every area of Council development. This to him, will improve the quality of life of persons with disabilities.
From inclusive reporting to website management passing through social media corporate reporting, story writing and taking and documenting good pictures, the modules were tailored to enable the partner councils see the need to communicate their actions inclusively, using different channels, and putting in place an accessible website.
It should be noted that the Socio Economic Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities SEEPD program, is in its fourth phase and seeks to improve the quality of life of persons with disabilities so as to adopt inclusion as a core part of its mandate. To achieve this, the SEEPD program aims at strengthening mainstream systems and councils are key one of actors in this phase.
