Councillor Dighambong Anthony Mvo breaks record by obtaining a second mandate, promises achievements in three years.

The  incumbent Mayor of Wum council, Dighambong Anthony Mvo, has been elected Mayor of the Council as Pioneer Mayor to rule Wum council for two consecutive mandates. 

In an elective council session, Tuesday 18th February 2020, Dighambong Anthony Mvo recorded 24 votes out of the 24 cast.

In his first address after the Elections, he greeted the bravery of the councillors who accepted to run under the CPDM ticket. He challenged them to work together for an improved living condition of their people.
In a session chaired by the eldest councillor, Prof Mendi Stephen Dung, Councillor Hamza Umaru was  elected as First Deputy Mayor and Councillor Sih Marie Zenobia as second Deputy Mayor.


The election of the deputy Mayor, recorded 24 votes on 24.

It is the first time a Mayor is elected for two consecutive mandates in Wum, a subdivision that plays host to the Divisional headquarters of Menchum.

The supervisory authority, Menchum SDO, Abdoullahi Aliou, challenged the council executive to work for the common good of the population, and to foster justice that will lead to peace and long-lasting development. 
He also urged them to bring the youths on board so that they leave the bushes where  they have been fighting the state.

The election  of the mayor of Wum council took place at the Wum town Hall.

The Reign of Terror in Menchum: A Horrific Encounter on the Wum-Bamenda Route

                                            The reign of terror in Menchum once again manifested itself in horrific fashion on the Wum-Bamenda road on Wednesday 5 June 2024, turning an ordinary morning journey into a nightmare. Traditional Leaders Urge Government to Address Drug Abuse in Ntarikon 2 Community

On November 20, 2024, community spokespeople from the Adjust for Me project engaged religious and traditional leaders in an open discussion during a door-to-door sensitization campaign in Ntarikon 2. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about the growing concerns of drug abuse and gender-based violence (GBV) within the community. Through this dialogue, the project sought to educate both youths and religious leaders on the dangers of substance abuse and to address how gender-based violence can be reduced in both the church and local communities. Many religious leaders expressed that while some progress has been made, the increasing prevalence of drug abuse among young people remains a pressing concern.
