COVID-19; PRESIDENTIAL GIFTS TOUCH MENCHUM DIVISION.

The population of Wum in Menchum Division, have received their own share of President Paul Biya's gifts to the nation, as efforts to combat COVID 19.
The distribution exercise took place at the Wum grandstand, in strict respect of social distancing, and chaired by the Senior Divisional Officer for Menchum Division, Mr. Abdoullahi Aliou.


Mounting the rostrum, the Lord Mayor of Wum council, Councillor Dighambong Anthony Mvo, welcomed all who came out despite the social distancing, to receive the Presidential gifts and use them judiciously, to combat COVID 19.
"Let us remember to always clean and desinfect all surfaces of common use: door handles, switches and remote controls at least twice a day with desinfectants. Let's protect our children by avoiding contact between them and anyone else, even neighbours and relatives in order to protect them from COVID-19 infection."


While handing the gifts to the population, the Senior Divisional Officer for Menchum Division, Mr. Abdoullahi Aliou, cautioned them to use them for the purpose of fighting COVID-19 and for no other purpose.


He also use the occasion, to remind the population, of the preventive measures. That consist of hand washing with runny water and soap, use hand sanitizers, cough in the elbow, always wear a face mask and respecting social distancing.


 The distribution committee immediately went to work to identify the various beneficiaries, and handed their gifts, with the firm caution of judicious usage for the protection of our population.

The Reign of Terror in Menchum: A Horrific Encounter on the Wum-Bamenda Route

                                            The reign of terror in Menchum once again manifested itself in horrific fashion on the Wum-Bamenda road on Wednesday 5 June 2024, turning an ordinary morning journey into a nightmare. Traditional Leaders Urge Government to Address Drug Abuse in Ntarikon 2 Community

On November 20, 2024, community spokespeople from the Adjust for Me project engaged religious and traditional leaders in an open discussion during a door-to-door sensitization campaign in Ntarikon 2. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about the growing concerns of drug abuse and gender-based violence (GBV) within the community. Through this dialogue, the project sought to educate both youths and religious leaders on the dangers of substance abuse and to address how gender-based violence can be reduced in both the church and local communities. Many religious leaders expressed that while some progress has been made, the increasing prevalence of drug abuse among young people remains a pressing concern. "Our youths are falling victim to drugs, and it's taking a toll on their health, well-being, and futures," one community leader remarked.
