WUM COUNCIL'S FUTURISTIC PROJECT.

The idea of such a lofty project is based on a vision for the development of this municipality and making it a practical and aesthetic entity.

The Town’s vision for the new Municipal Center and site is to create a “Gateway” to the Town of Wum. The facility will feature a high-quality entrance commensurate with other giant structures such as the Aghem Credit union at three corners and the business structure at courtyard. The facility will house the Town’s current departments and allow for growth, expecting to provide space to accommodate up to 50 employees. It will include Council Chambers, a hall for executive meetings and customer service areas for the public.

The total Municipal Center project, inclusive of architectural design, construction, site development, and landscaping, is projected to cost some hundreds of millions. Designed by POLARIS DESIGN, their proposal for the future town hall of Wum draws a discreet profile in the landscape, that will stand out as a landmark in the municipality. The building aims to strengthen the character of Wum, and will be the starting point for tourists traveling and exploring the Aghem highland nature. The new town hall is not just an expansion, but a link between the old and the new generations.

The new building blends in with the hilly landscape: it bridges the gap between nature and the city, opens up towards the surroundings and incorporates the green surroundings in the activities of the house. The house will create a platform for a wide range of activities, meeting places and hubs, and at the same time create a successful workplace.

The building is placed in the landscape as a three-story horizontal pavilion, adjacent to the existing town hall 'southern facade. It will, by its horizontality, not compete with the old city and the existing town hall. By organizing the building around a series of green courtyards, the surroundings are pulled into the complex and creates a smooth transition between the nature, work space and the existing town hall.

The new town hall is based on the idea of working in nature. No matter where you are, in both the old and the new building there will be nature quite literally "on the doorstep".

The roof and courtyards of the building will be a tale of the hilltop - a small piece of peninsula which exhibits the surrounding natural phenomena. It will invite employees, citizens and tourists to explore the building and the rooftop open plaza before they move out into the wild.
