C.P.S ENGAGES PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS IN USING RADIO DRAMA FOR PROMOTION OF PEACE

 



As part of measures to spread peace through communication, the Civil Peace Service of Bread for the World organized a 5- day workshop on radio drama production on the theme "Radio Drama: A Veritable Tool for the Promotion of Peace".The workshop which was held at the PCC Synod office in Buea brought together 17 CPS partner organizations from all over the country.

Opening the training workshop, the representative of the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, the National Peace Coordinator, Rev. Nta William Nche disclosed that the workshop is coming at a time when all avenues have to be exploited to preach peace, and radio drama is one of them.

During the 5-day training workshop, the participants were drilled on peace, peacebuilding, conflict, history of radio drama, elements of a good script amongst others by Julius Nzang and Achaleke Christian, who were the main facilitators.

At the end of the training workshop, the participants produced a 3-hour radio drama piece titled "A Cry for Peace". The radio drama was geared towards promoting peace and social cohesion in society.

 At the end of the workshop, Ntui Oben Obi Agbor, CPS National Coordinator, urged the participants to carry the knowledge gotten from the workshop to their various organizations and educate people through drama on the necessity for peace.

The participants divided themselves into groups wherein they brought forth ways of fostering peace-oriented radio drama such as producing dramas with peace messages and performing on national and international days which tie to the themes.

WUM COUNCIL: SDO VISITS HOLIDAY WORKERS.

For the past two months, the Wum Municipality has been a bee hive as many youths on holidays have been engaged by the Wum Council, to dig, clean and decorate the municipality with ornamental trees and flowers, this to the satisfaction of the population who always come out in their numbers to encourage these children.  The recruitment of these children, though a corporate social responsibility of the Wum Council, has been made possible thanks to the workaholic Mayor and his team.
