Two people have died and about 20 houses swept off following a landslide caused by torrential rainfall and flooding in Tiben, Widikum, according Andoh Stanislaus, Mayor of Widikum.
According to the Mayor, at least two women have lost their lives in a village called Ekah located at about 10km from Widikum, as two houses were swept. The Mayor added that work is ongoing to determine the actual extend of the damage caused.
The incident also disrupted traffic flow along the trans African high way that links Cameroon and the Federal Republic of Nigeria passing through Widikum in Momo Division.
Mayor Stanislaus is pleading on persons of goodwill to assist the hundreds of people currently stranded after heavy rains of August 11 in Widikum.
