COVID-19: CIfA MAINSTREAMS DISABILITY.

The fight against the Corona virus has always yielded positive impact as it has always been drifted towards education, sensitization and conscientization of the masses to scrupulously stay within the ambit of the preventive measures; Washing of hands with runny water and soap, adequate wearing of face mask, judicious use of hand sanitizers and respecting social distancing.

On like other organisations, and associations that think about the general population, the Community Impact for Africa, CIfA, has changed the narrative, by mainstreaming disability, in the fight against COVID-19.

CIfA has handed a chart of COVID-19 prevention measures in sign Language, as well as and an adaptive hand washing tool to the Bamenda main market.

The CEO of CIfA, Madam Ngwanwi Lidwina Munting, says the motivating factor is to trigger the government and other individuals, to mainstream disability in the fight against the Corona virus.

"The raison d'être is to create sensitization on disability inclusiveness in all developmental actions. CIfA in a bit to fight COVID-19, provided an adaptive hand wash tool to the Bamenda main market where persons with disability can also wash their hands when they make use of the market since it is a public place" Dixit Ngwanwi Lidwina Munting, CEO CIFA.

This move by CIfA, is a way of educating administrative and municipal authorities, owners of public places, privately owned buildings and travel agencies, to do same in their premises, so that persons with disabilities will also feel included in the fight against COVID-19.

While thanking CIfA for thinking about persons with disabilities with this milestone gesture in the fight against COVID-19, the Market Master of the Bamenda main market, Mr. Nji Sylvester, called on other goodwill bodies and persons, to support CIFA so that this innovative method can be multiplied and many of such inventions spread around town.

Peace journalists in Bamenda aquaint themselves with skills on humanitarian reporting and security/safety of journalists
