The Justice and Peace Commission of the Archdiocese of Bamenda, recently schooled over 25 women on audience and influence in Peace building and Conflict Transformation. These women were real grassroot women- market women popularly known as 'buyam Sellams,' farmers, local community leaders, church leaders, teachers, journalists, housewives just to name these few.

For one full day, the media and peace building, consultant and Facilitator, Rosaline A Obah, the National Coordinator of the Cameroon Community Media Network CCMN, taught women what conflict transformation is, strategies to build peace, and how to resolve conflicts beginning from the family, to the community especially in their different areas of influence.

The workshop ended with the women very satisfied with resolutions to come out of their shelves and function as local women peace builders, capable of resolving conflicts in their various communities through taking part in visible actions and decisions, bearing in mind that they have a pivotal role to place in the peace building process in the two English speaking regions and Cameroon in general.

"We are part of the solution, and therefore we must be active for peace to return to the nation," they concluded on this note. Worthy of note is the fact that, inspiration for this workshop came from the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Bamenda in his recent release on, "Now is the Time for Peace."

Stories and best practices were shared by the local women on challenges faced, and also how they can be part of success stories in conflict resolution. This to to the ultimate satisfaction of Madame Laura Anyola Tufon, the Coordinator of the Justice and Peace Commission.

Traditional Leaders Urge Government to Address Drug Abuse in Ntarikon 2 Community

On November 20, 2024, community spokespeople from the Adjust for Me project engaged religious and traditional leaders in an open discussion during a door-to-door sensitization campaign in Ntarikon 2. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about the growing concerns of drug abuse and gender-based violence (GBV) within the community. Through this dialogue, the project sought to educate both youths and religious leaders on the dangers of substance abuse and to address how gender-based violence can be reduced in both the church and local communities. Many religious leaders expressed that while some progress has been made, the increasing prevalence of drug abuse among young people remains a pressing concern. "Our youths are falling victim to drugs, and it's taking a toll on their health, well-being, and futures," one community leader remarked. The discussion linked the rise in drug abuse to the economic challenges and ongoing socio-political unrest that have left many youths ...
