ZHOA COUNCIL BUDGET HITS FCFA 1 BILLION


Zhoa Council in Fungom Subdivision of Menchum Division has adopted a sensational and impressive sum of 1,082,700,00 as its budget for the year 2021, witnessing an increase of 142,700,000 from the 2020 budget.

The budget was voted last Friday 4th December 2020 during the council's budgetary session.


According to the Mayor, Councillor Njah Titus Ndongkeh, the council's priority project is to raise the income so as to be able to realise the projects that could not be realised in 2018, 2019 and 2020 because of the socio-political stalemate in the two English speaking regions of Cameroon.

He said the bulk of the Zhoa Council's 2021 budget, over 50% of it is allocated for investment, given the fact that the municipality is under developed and enclaved.

Mayor Njah Titus Ndongkeh continued that the Council plans to rehabilitate some schools and curb the aspect of hygiene and sanitation that is still a major challenge especially in villages.

The Lord Mayor urgeď his councillors to come together, plan together, work together and learn to stay united in order for them to achieve their goal in 2021."It is therefore our collective efforts to mobilise the realisation of this budget."


The Senior Divisional Officer for Menchum Division, Abdoullahi Aliou, dwelled on security, as he said; "For any projects to be realised, there is need for peace to reign." He also expressed satisfaction with the increase of the budget, and urged the Mayor and his councillors to ensure permanent collaboration with state services and other structures put in place for decentralisation to succeed. He also encouraged the Mayor to leave no stone unturned as far as revenue generating potentials are concerned.

Traditional Leaders Urge Government to Address Drug Abuse in Ntarikon 2 Community

On November 20, 2024, community spokespeople from the Adjust for Me project engaged religious and traditional leaders in an open discussion during a door-to-door sensitization campaign in Ntarikon 2. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about the growing concerns of drug abuse and gender-based violence (GBV) within the community. Through this dialogue, the project sought to educate both youths and religious leaders on the dangers of substance abuse and to address how gender-based violence can be reduced in both the church and local communities. Peace journalists in Bamenda aquaint themselves with skills on humanitarian reporting and security/safety of journalists

This statement was  made by Fonyuy Kiven Frankline, the information officer at the United Nations for the coordination of humanitarian affairs, on December 27 2019 at Ntamulung church center hall as he trained peace journalists in Bamenda on humanitarian reporting and Security/safety of journalists.
