38th ANNIVERSARY OF THE CPDM IN WUM; A CELEBRATION UNDER THE BACKGROUND OF THANKS.

The YCPDM, WCPDM and CPDM Section presidents of Menchum I and the militants celebrated this event on March 24, 2023, for the first time in public since the advent of the current anglophone crisis, at the Wum ceremonial grandstand. 

 

 The celebration took place in the presence of Mr. Dighambong Anthony Mvo, official representative of Hon. Nji Fidelis Mu-ziah, head of the permanent divisional delegation of the central committee for Menchum Division, Mr. Abdoullahi Aliou, Senior Divisional Officer of Menchum, Madam Ewi Clementine Mbe and Mr. Sulle Adamu Ali, Members of the Northwest Regional Assembly, Mr Hamza Umaru 1st Deputy Mayor of Wum, a cross section of traditional rulers and militants of the CPDM party and well-wishers.  The highlights of this celebration was the recent election of KOBENGE SEKEDI BOMEH as Senator of Menchum.  With one voice, the elite thanked the municipal and regional councilors for the vote granted to the list of the CPDM during the senatorial elections of March 12.

 

 In his welcome speech, Mayor Hamza Umaru marked a pause on the end of this 38th anniversary, namely Rejoicings, gathering and mobilization behind the CPDM National President, H.E Paul Biya, in full awareness of future electoral challenges and issues. Thus, inviting militants to remain vigilant and cling on the numerous achievements of the CPDM and President Paul Biya.  The municipal magistrate paid tribute to the Head of State for the numerous actions carried out in favor of Wum municipality, and called on the CPDM government to salvage the battered Wum-Bamenda potion of the ring road, revamp WADA and also think of the appointment of sons and daughters of Menchum Division to prestigious positions in the government.  

 

The YCPDM Section President of Menchum I Section, Mr. Fang Kum Adolf, reaffirmed the unwavering support of the youths to the national president of the party, while calling on the youths to be patriotic and promoters of peace before calling on those in the bushes to come out and join them in building this nation.  

 

Mr. Njuh Ivor Ghong, CPDM Section President, thanked the Head of State for the particular attention he pays to the town of Wum.   



The party ended with the reading of the motion of collective support and the jubilation.

The Reign of Terror in Menchum: A Horrific Encounter on the Wum-Bamenda Route

                                            The reign of terror in Menchum once again manifested itself in horrific fashion on the Wum-Bamenda road on Wednesday 5 June 2024, turning an ordinary morning journey into a nightmare. As passengers like Pa Cheghe Bang Mathias left Wum and the surrounding area s  for Bamenda, they found themselves trapped in an ambush by a band of armed men claiming to be Amba fighters. The peaceful atmosphere of dawn was transformed into a scene of panic and desperation as the assailants, armed with violence and brutality, demanded the ‘support’ of the travelers . Traditional Leaders Urge Government to Address Drug Abuse in Ntarikon 2 Community

On November 20, 2024, community spokespeople from the Adjust for Me project engaged religious and traditional leaders in an open discussion during a door-to-door sensitization campaign in Ntarikon 2. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about the growing concerns of drug abuse and gender-based violence (GBV) within the community. Through this dialogue, the project sought to educate both youths and religious leaders on the dangers of substance abuse and to address how gender-based violence can be reduced in both the church and local communities. Many religious leaders expressed that while some progress has been made, the increasing prevalence of drug abuse among young people remains a pressing concern.
