NW Women Peace builders Fortify Skills in Peace building, Mediation

Mme Adah Mbah Women Peace builders within the North West Region have   strengthened their capacity in Meditation and Peace Building in amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic and crisis rocking the region. This was the outcome of a two day workshop on advancing women’s rights in response to community mediation and peace building processes with the hope of shifting the advocacy of women mediators in communities. The Workshop was organized by Mother of Hope Cameroon MOHCAM with support from Women Mediators across the Commonwealth for members of the Women Peace builders’ Network WOPEN NW. In November 2020 MOHCAM executed a project on strengthening the capacities of members of the Women Peace builders Network-WOPEN to Effectively Engage in Mediation and peace building in response to crises in the North West Regions. ZHOA COUNCIL: 2020 ADMINISTRATIVE AND MANAGEMENT ACCOUNT ADOPTED AMIDST HEATED DEBATES.

The ordinary session to examine, scrutinize, vote and adopt the 2020 accounts of Zhoa Council took place last March 31st 2020 at the Zhoa Council Hall. The council session was chaired by the Zhoa Council Mayor, Councilor NJAH Titus NDONGKEH, under the watchful eyes of the 1st Assistant SDO for Menchum, Mr. Demanou Fabrice. INCLUSIVE LOCAL DEVELOPMENT; CBCHS-SEEPD PROGRAM SCHOOLS COMMUNICATION OFFICERS.

Communication Officers drawn from 9 partner Councils of the SEEPD program of the CBC Health Services, have undergone a one day capacity building on inclusive communication, capturing and reporting of Community Based Inclusive Development CBID stories as well as the ability to upload, edit and update their various council's websites. While opening the workshop, Mr. Tamon James, Representating the Director of CBC Health Board, challenged the Communication Officers, to mainstream inclusion in their various writeups in every area of Council development. EDUCATION; HON. WALLANG HANDS CLASSROOMS TO CS ST. MARTIN.

The Member of Parliament for Menchum South Constituency, Hon. Wallang Richard Ebua, has once again demonstrated his fatherly love to the rural community. This time around, it was at the St. Martin’s Catholic school in Wum Municipality of Menchum Division in the North-West Region that tasted the generosity of the Member of Parliament. After 79 years of existence, with an advanced stage of decrepitude classroom buildings and a non-existing multimedia center, St. Martin’s Catholic school Wum has just been given a new facelift by the MP, a philanthropist. SECOND WAVE OF COVID-19; WUM COUNCIL GETS READY.

With the North-West Region now experiencing the second wave of COVID-19, the Municipal Magistrate of Wum Council, Mr. Dighambong Anthony Mvo, has called on residents of his municipality, to make sure they are doing all they can to slow the rate of infection, and to protect each other, by systematically putting on their face masks, washing their hands regularly with soap and runny water, and by respecting social distancing at all time. He made this call, while chairing a mass distribution of face masks to inhabitants of his municipality. In total, over 5,000 face masks have been distributed by the Wum Council, mostly to young people. The Mayor also reassured Wum denizens that efforts are being made to step up the fight against this deadly pandemic. He reminded them that the global pandemic is not yet over. NWADO BUILDS CAPACITIES OF CBLs TO IMPULSE LOCAL DEVELOPMENT.

The PC Naikom women’s center, in Wum, Menchum Division of the North West Region, played host to a one day workshop on the training of over thirty community based leaders (CBLS), on monitoring public investment projects. Organized by the North-West Association of Development Organizations NWADO, the workshop falls within the ambit of the Active Citizenship Strengthening Program (PROCIVIS) in Cameroon, and was held under the thematic of “ Strengthening civil society in the formulation and monitoring of public policy and the promotion of the rule of law and peace”.
