Members of the Cameroon Community Media Network CCMN, have received hand sanitizers, face masks and liquid soaps from the PCC peace office and Bread for the world, as efforts to fight COVID19.
The present COVID19 outbreak has become the biggest story in the world now, but it is still difficult to determine with exactitude the future and consequences of the infection.
With these uncertainties, journalists are faced with challenges like risks of being infected in the line of duty. This is the obvious reason why the Network has decided to protect its members, by handing them hand sanitizers.
During the distribution exercise, the National Coordinator of the Cameroon Community Media Network CCMN, Mme Rose Obah, called on all to use these items judiciously, and more importantly, stay safe so as to protect our families.
"Charity begins at home therefore, we should teach by example. We need to wash our hands regularly using hand sanitizers. More often than not, we think about others and forget ourselves. This is time for us to thank our partners, the PCC peace office and Bread for the world, for putting hands together for our different media houses to have these items, so as to enable our media houses protect themselves and their workers because we all know what COVID19 has caused the whole world and journalists are not indifferent to this. This is our own little way to say we also want to support our members who are going out there to report and talk to community members because as community media houses, we can't be talking to the Governor and so on and so forth. We need to be talking to those who have been affected by the COVID19."
To these words, the National Coordinator of the Cameroon Community Media Network added; "Once we don't protect ourselves, our families back at home are not safe."
The call of Mme Rose Obah, to all CCMN members was safety and safely again. "As we take these items To our various media houses, let's ensure we use them judiciously."
OJ SLIM MEDIA spoke to some of the beneficiary media houses.
"I personally commend the gesture of the Cameroon Community Media Network CCMN, for reaching out to member radio stations. This items will go a long way to serve not only the staff of my radio station, but those who come for our services. We are grateful for this largesse."
