COVID 19:GOTHSBESA TAKES FIGHT TO IDP CAMP

The Government Technical College and Government Technical High School Nkwen ex students association GOTHSBESA, has  offered materials like blankets,soap, mattresses just to name a few to an internally displaced camp at Pa Ntam Michael's compound at Ghana street Nkwen. According to the association, the materials will help the IDPs to remain clean and there by reducing the risk of contracting the Corona virus. Some kids in the camp who where sick, were also taken to the hospital for medical check-up.


"Eventhough we have the outbreak of the Corona virus, we still have IDPs as  a result of the on going crisis in the north west and south West regions and so we need to take care of their needs. on this note I want to thank all members of GOTHSBESA home and abroad who supported for the success of this program, and to tell people of good will that they can join us in up coming programs because we do this quaterly that is every 3 or 4 months." Wanki Stella, the President of GOTHSBESA said


From Ghana  street, GOTHSBESA moved  to the Saint Paul's hall at Mile 3 Nkwen where some internally displaced women in the Bamenda city area that is Bamenda 1, 2 and 3 sub divisions. These women were trained  on life sustainable activities such as making of pastries product of all kinds and Also baking products. This was during a one day workshop.


The theme of the workshop was "skill acquisition on baking and pastries, responding to and preventing gender based violence among women and Young girls in crisis and conflicts."

There was also premarital counselling by Wanki Stella Ghong who is the National President of GOTHSBESA who used her personal marital life that is 24years   in marriage 18 out of the 24 without a fruit of the womb.
I just feel I should give my experience of marriage to them,I have been in marriage for 24 years and for 18years withouts a child. I am just happy sharing with them and relieving some of their pain Madam Wanki added

To the Project Director of life changing Humanitarian association Mr Funwi Numfor  Jie, women and girls are the most affected during crisis and conflicts like the anglophone crisis in the north west and south West regions of Cameroon and educating them on life sustainable activities, is educating their families and to a greater extend the society.
"The idea behind this initiative is to help women and girls have income generating activities with focus on internally displaced persons. We have gone through the BDA city council area collected data of Idps to this effect and we are calling on other associations and organizations, to join us in up coming workshops" Mr Funwi added.

The participants where thankful to GOTHSBESA for the opportunity to lean ways to put food on their tables. 
"we want to thank the association for helping IDPS like us. We where trained on how to make pastries and also baking with these, our lives will not be the same again" one of the participants miss Evelyn Mbeh said

Breaking the Cycle: Confronting Gender-Based Violence and Drug Abuse in Bamenda

In a bid to tackle the pressing issues of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and drug abuse, the "Adjust for Me" project, implemented by Common Action for Gender Development (COMAGEND), has been making strides in the Ntarikon 2 community, Bamenda. Peace journalists in Bamenda aquaint themselves with skills on humanitarian reporting and security/safety of journalists

This statement was  made by Fonyuy Kiven Frankline, the information officer at the United Nations for the coordination of humanitarian affairs, on December 27 2019 at Ntamulung church center hall as he trained peace journalists in Bamenda on humanitarian reporting and Security/safety of journalists.
