NW CAMASEJ President Says Journalists must teach by example.
At their monthly meeting today April 10th 2020, aimed at evaluating the impact of their work on the population they serve, close to 50 members of the Cameroon Association of English Speaking Journalists (CAMASEJ NW) were each handed a litre of hand sanitizer as part of pre-emptive measures to guard against the pandemic as they execute their duties daily.
This was possible thanks to the romance that exists between the association and the NW Regional Delegation of Public Health that subsidized the purchase by 25%.
Speaking, the president Ambe MacMillan said:
"We're privileged that in the appeal we sent to Minsante Delegate, he did us a 25% reduction in the cost. We are giving you our members not just for your personal use, reason why we step it up to a litre. Do well to share to family members, friends and neighbors because if these persons are not safe, so are you. Being the leaders that we are, not just by virtue of mouth but by action, it's our place to share not only information but livelihood as well. It's our duty as journalists to care about the health of the society"
To note that journalists by virtue of their profession do interact with people of various age group within their respective communities and are not immuned to epidermics or pandemics such as the Covid-19.
The journalists via the routine audiovisual, print review and special presentation suggested ways in which they can better communicate Covid-19 without instilling fear and Panic amongst the population.
In the days ahead CAMASEJ NW will benefit face masks from the BoBo Linox arts centre.
