Beneath every cloth she wore was a scar
Sobbing was her duty
She blamed herself for her bruises
Makeup was her only shelter
To cover up her bruises and scars
For people not to notice.
Every night was a beating
Fighting back was a taboo
Silence was an obligation
While courage was far away (Pechuqui Laurata )
No one ever listened to her
Pain was like a lifestyle now
She covers her body not out 0f decency
But because she's given the story of I fell too many times
She wears sun glasses under the rain
No one ever seemed to understand her pain
One day I had a talk with her abuser
My neighbour, after he had done the usual
I asked him after a conversation
How many women he's ever beaten
He counted also every woman he's been with
So I asked him how many guys he's ever beaten
He stood there tongue tight
He felt insulted and surely he took me for his wife
He bounced on me
Before he knew it I forgot my fist
In his face a couple of times
Next thing he was down
I had planned this lesson for quite some time
So I taught him well
If you're a woman beater you should be aware
I might just be your next nightmare
(Blake)
A strong woman I became
Never to let my worth be defiled
Never to let my self get hurt
Violence became history
(Pechuqui Laurata)
This is my story
If you're being abused you can talk to me
If you met an abused listen to them
(Blake)
