2019 WORLD DIABETES CELEBRATED WITH THE CALL;PROTECT YOUR FAMILY.

Patients at the Northwest regional hospital Bamenda have expressed their worries concerning the high prices of  diabetes drugs in the hospital .This was one of the major problems posed by diabetes patients at the regional hospital Bamenda as they joined the world yesterday Nov 14 2019 to commemorate the world diabetes day.the world diabetes day is an annual event observed ever 14 Nov with the aim of creating awareness and sensitising the public about diabetes .
This years edition was celebrated under the theme "protect your family" .diabetes is a condition in  which a person has an elevated blood sugar ,that is  the body is unable to process sugar  normally, thus causing sugar to circulate,leading to an increase in sugar level in the blood. Speaking during the the  event marking the day,the director of the regional hospital stressed on the importance of of bringing the family together to combat diabetes  and ensuring that every family member lives healthy  and not develop this illness over time.Dr mercy  Fru Ndoh explained that   diabetes occurs in two types ,type 1 which is common in children who were born with it,while type two is common in adults and it develops when they reach the age of 40. 
She equally added that,despite the increasing rate of diabetes it can be prevented  by taking precautions which include ,avoiding the intake of over sugar,regular exercises, avoid alcohol , smoking , avoid over feeding and equally the intake of seasoning cubes commonly called maggi , and salt  These majors she says are risk factors and can equally lead to diabetes. The high prices of  diabetes medicine at the hospital  is a major issue faced by Patience says NDE zama. Who is equally the president of the diabetes association at the hospital as he called on the government to look into this problem.madam mumah magrete ,a  diabetes patient says financial difficulty is a major problem to her considering the high prices of drugs. It is worth mentioning that,14 of Nov equally marks the birthday of sir Frederic Banting who Co discovered insulin in 1921.insulin is a life saving diabetes medication that has been of great help  to diabetes patients since its creation.

The Reign of Terror in Menchum: A Horrific Encounter on the Wum-Bamenda Route

                                            The reign of terror in Menchum once again manifested itself in horrific fashion on the Wum-Bamenda road on Wednesday 5 June 2024, turning an ordinary morning journey into a nightmare. Traditional Leaders Urge Government to Address Drug Abuse in Ntarikon 2 Community

On November 20, 2024, community spokespeople from the Adjust for Me project engaged religious and traditional leaders in an open discussion during a door-to-door sensitization campaign in Ntarikon 2. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about the growing concerns of drug abuse and gender-based violence (GBV) within the community. Through this dialogue, the project sought to educate both youths and religious leaders on the dangers of substance abuse and to address how gender-based violence can be reduced in both the church and local communities. Many religious leaders expressed that while some progress has been made, the increasing prevalence of drug abuse among young people remains a pressing concern.
