Anglophone crisis: Menchum division pays for the on-going spectrum of violence

The population of Menchum division in general and Wum sub division in particular, are crying for help against forces that are crouched in the shadows and perpetrating atrocities, since the beginning of the current crisis.
    These populations have often been deprived of sleep as unremitting gun fires have perturbed their once silent and peaceful nights and days. Amba fighters coming to town to discipline persons suspected of collaborating with the regular forces in the lock down of activities, defense forces running after activists, Fulani/Hausa boys taking the law into their hands, leaving security operatives speechless, the road from Bamenda to Wum locked down from September 04 2018 till date.

    All these difficult situations only left the people helpless and dejected. What did we do to be entangled as we have been?

Menchum division is one of the two divisions where children did not write any official exams. Children did not go to school for the past three years as compared to elsewhere. Businesses are grounded. Institutions are locked down. Civil servants threatened. Divisional Delegates running for safety.

   Despite all these difficulties, the populations have turned to God their refuge, their comforter and their only source of hope. With 73 students answering present to the clarion call of education on September 2nd 2019 for the 2019/2020 school year, it is but obvious that a glimmer of hope is about to illuminate this peace loving Division.

  Taking cognizance of the fact that education is the only weapon with which any system can be brought down; parents have decided to send their kids back to school.
After three years at  home, anxious children now feel a yearning to be back to school.
    As life gradually resumes back in Wum, calm is also hastening its footsteps as activities and shops have now reopened. The massive influx of children rushing to acquire knowledge is a sign that these children were educationally staving. The national dialogue called by the Head of State last September 10th 2019 is another glimmer of hope for the people, who wish that the Anglophone crisis could be laid to rest.
    The Senior Divisional Officer for Menchum Division, Mr. Kamga Charles, deserves a red feather for his fatherly approach towards maintaining peace and security and above all ensuring that schools reopen their doors to learners and teachers. To ensure that this takes place, he convened a series of preparatory meetings to this effect.

Breaking the Cycle: Confronting Gender-Based Violence and Drug Abuse in Bamenda

In a bid to tackle the pressing issues of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and drug abuse, the "Adjust for Me" project, implemented by Common Action for Gender Development (COMAGEND), has been making strides in the Ntarikon 2 community, Bamenda. Peace journalists in Bamenda aquaint themselves with skills on humanitarian reporting and security/safety of journalists
