Major National Dialogue: PM faces the press after closing ceremony

Prime Minister, Head of Government who was Coordinator of the Major National Dialogue answered questions from the press after the official closing ceremony of the five day sitting.

He made an assessment of the conduct of the debates and exhorted the press to convey the wishes of Cameroonians that were expressed during the Major National Dialogue. In the last three years, the violence has painted a negative picture of Cameroon. President Paul Biya gave instructions for the holding of the sitting, the people expressed themselves freely and made recommendations, the PM recounted.

Asked about the way forward, the PM stated that he is waiting for instructions from the President of the Republic, a President who has demonstrated, in more than one way, his determination to find lasting solutions to the crisis.

Another question on the future of ex-combatants who have embraced the peace initiative was greeted by the PM. The Head of Government affirmed that instructions have been given to the Coordinator of the DDR Centres to ensure a quick reintegration of these children who all need to get into mainstream socio-economic life.

The Head of the General Secretariat of the Major National Dialogue, Felix Mbayu who responded to one question said he was humbled by the degree of indulgence witnessed from Delegates during the talks. Most of them accepted the inconveniences, stayed on, to express the will of the majority of English speaking Cameroonians.
