On the invitation of the French President Emmanuel Macron, the Head of State, H.E. Paul Biya and wife Chantal have left Yaounde for Lyon, France Tuesday 8th October 2019 to attend the Sixth Replenishment Conference of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
The 6th conference on the reconstruction of funds organised every three years, is taking place France for the first time.
For two days, Paul Biya and his peers will explore ways of raising
some 14 billion dollars within a period of three years to fight
HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and malaria, three leading causes of premature
deaths and disabilities.
Donations are generally voluntary contributions from countries and private donors.
The Conference to hold from 9th to 10th October 2019 projects the preservation of 16 million lives.
The Global Fund, through its interventions, hopes to prevent 234 million infections within beneficiary countries.
The participation of Cameroon’s leader in the deliberations in France
is also a recognition of the country’s gratitude to the Global Fund’s
assistance since 2003.
Cameroon has received CFA 315 327 841 225 through a number of grants;

4- malaria
Cameroon expects to mobilise CFA100 billion between the 2021-2023
period and make available a counterpart fund of CFA 20 billion placed in
BEAC.
