NOSO: comprendre le statut spécial

Cette recommandation formulée par la Commission Décentralisation et Développement local, à l’issue du Grand dialogue national, répond à la disposition de la Constitution du Cameroun en son article 62.
Un statut spécial pour les régions du Nord-Ouest et du Sud-Ouest en crise depuis trois ans. L’occasion du Grand dialogue national s’est voulue idoine pour adresser cette recommandation à l’appréciation du chef de l’État, préoccupé par le retour urgent de la paix dans ces deux parties du pays.


Contenu du statut spécial

D’après le Pr. Joseph Owona, professeur agrégé de Droit, il s’agit d’un « statut qui obéit aux règles générales des régimes de régions. Mais, un statut qui est également adapté aux spécificités typiquement anglo-saxonnes ». L’on peut citer par exemple, le sous-système éducatif anglo-saxon, la Common law, la création envisagée de Law School pour les anglophones qui n’auront plus besoin d’aller se former à l’étranger pour devenir avocat.
Article 62 de la Constitution
Selon cet article en son alinéa 1, « la loi peut tenir compte des spécificités de certaines régions dans leur organisation et leur fonctionnement ». En effet, cette disposition est le prolongement de l’article 61, alinéa 2. Celui-ci stipule que le Président de la République peut, en tant que de besoins :
– modifier les dénominations et les délimitations géographiques des Régions,
– attribuer une dénomination à une région.

Traditional Leaders Urge Government to Address Drug Abuse in Ntarikon 2 Community

On November 20, 2024, community spokespeople from the Adjust for Me project engaged religious and traditional leaders in an open discussion during a door-to-door sensitization campaign in Ntarikon 2. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about the growing concerns of drug abuse and gender-based violence (GBV) within the community. Through this dialogue, the project sought to educate both youths and religious leaders on the dangers of substance abuse and to address how gender-based violence can be reduced in both the church and local communities. The Reign of Terror in Menchum: A Horrific Encounter on the Wum-Bamenda Route

                                            The reign of terror in Menchum once again manifested itself in horrific fashion on the Wum-Bamenda road on Wednesday 5 June 2024, turning an ordinary morning journey into a nightmare.
